SkyBus Airlines Files for Bankruptcy

Unable to overcome the struggle of rising jet fuel prices and a U.S. economy in shambles, Columbus-based Skybus Airlines has ceased operations today and plans to file for bankruptcy protection under Chapter 11 on Monday, April 7.

In operation for less than a year, the airline was operating 80 daily flights to 15 cities around the States with 11 aircraft and had employed 450 people.

In a press release, Skybus CEO Michael Hodge stated:

We deeply regret this decision, and the impact this will have on our employees and their families, our customers, our vendors and other partners, and the communities in which we have been operating.

Regretable indeed.

Those holding Skybus reservations are advised to contact their credit card companies for refund information.
