Masai Barefoot Technology (MBT)
My preferred method of getting around is to walk. It’s healthy and I get to see much more than if we were driving.
However, as the years have slipped by, the ole dogs ain’t what they used to be. My feet and legs were tiring out too often. I’d heard that MBT or Masai Barefoot Technology are shoes that exercise and revitalize your legs as you walk, so I had to check them out…. Read more

Frank Lloyd Wright: Oak Park Chicago
Posted October 14, 2006 by Ed Szajniak · Filed Under Adventures
When I visit a city one of the things that I really look at is the architecture, and Chicago is a delight to the senses in this regard.
Any trip to Chicago should include a visit to the village of Oak Park. It can be reached easily by taking a local train from downtown Chicago.
Frank Lloyd Wright made Oak Park his home and it is where 25 of his buildings are located. I have been a fan of Wright’s style and it was a thrill to finally get to see some of the master’s works in real life.

Best Western Carmel Mission Inn
Posted October 8, 2006 by Ed Szajniak · Filed Under Adventures, Hotels
The Best Western Carmel Mission Inn is located on Rio Rd. just off Highway 1 in Carmel, California and is a bargain compared with other accomodations in the area.
Our room was comfortable and well appointed.
However, there is no elevator, so if lugging your bag up a flight of stairs is a problem, you’ll want to request a room on the ground floor.
Samsonite Spinner: My Favorite Suitcase

Back in October 2005, Ed and I took a 3 week tour of China that included stays in Beijing, Shanghai, Guilin (the mammary mountain region), Xian (to see the terra-cotta warriors) and Hong Kong (to buy fake Rolexes… what else?).
We also took a four-day cruise up the Yangtze River… or maybe it was ‘down’ the Yangtze River. I’m not really sure. Read more

I attended Yanik Silver’s Underground II Seminar in Washington, D.C. back in March of 2006. Before flying back to Toronto after the conference, I spent the afternoon in Georgetown.
It was beautiful. The birds were singing, the sun was shining and the cherry tree blossoms were bursting forth. Read more
Everett, Washington: Boeing Plant Tour
Posted October 3, 2006 by Ed Szajniak · Filed Under Adventures
A few miles north of Seattle - well, 25 miles actually - is the city of Everett, which is home to the Boeing Company. We visited the plant and took in the Future of Flight Aviation Center & Boeing Tour.
In the Future of Flight Hall you can design your own aircraft. There are many displays on the new Boeing 787 which will be made of mostly composite materials.
Shoot ‘em Up Fun in Las Vegas

Something strange happens in the brain of a 56 year old male when he holds a machine gun for the first time. The edges of one’s mouth curl into a snarl.
We were at the Gun Store on Tropicana in Las Vegas and I was holding a Heckler & Koch MP5 Sub-machine gun.
“Hold tight with your left hand and lean into it, give it 3 quick shot bursts” were the instructions on how to hold and aim the weapon. It was time to fire the “chopper”…
Las Vegas: P.F. Changs China Bistro
Posted October 1, 2006 by Ed Szajniak · Filed Under Food
In Las Vegas and hungry for Chinese? Go to P. F. Changs China Bistro restaurant located in the Aladdin / Planet Hollywood. We ate there and discovered…
That the service was very friendly and fast… but not too fast. Portions are generous and did I mention taste?
MMMM MMM GOOD!!!
We had the Kung Pao chicken (Quick-fired with peanuts, chili peppers and scallions) and the Coconut Curry Vegetables (Stir-fried mixed vegetables, crispy silken tofu and peanuts in a vegetarian coconut curry sauce).
With Ros’ beer, the cost for our dinner was very reasonable at under $30.
The cuisine varies from traditional Chinese to innovative dishes that reflect China’s changing face. The chain has locations in 40 states.
HIGHLY recommended!
